This blog documents my financial life – that of a millennial, lifelong, native Canadian, ominously branded “US Person” by both my own government and the government of our southern neighbour.
Despite being a fifth or sixth generation Canadian, Canada considers me to be different than most of the others because one of my parents is an American. According to the US government, the children of American citizens who lived in the United States for at least 5 years prior to the child’s birth, are US citizens as well.
